The SWCS Nebraska Chapter will hold its 40th Annual Legislative/Informational Breakfast from 7:00 to 8:00 a.m., January 31, 2023, in Room 124 of the Denney Federal Building, 100 Centennial Mall N, Lincoln, NE. Refreshments will be served beginning at 7:00 with the program scheduled to begin at 7:30.
This year’s speaker is Rob Lawson. Rob has been State Conservationist for the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) since February 2022. He will provide highlights of 2022 accomplishments and share information about new NRCS initiatives for 2023, including opportunities for NRDs and other local organizations to partner with NRCS to assist producers in implementing practices to address resource concerns. His presentation will cover the following.
FY22 Nebraska NRCS Accomplishments
- Conservation Programs
- Soil Health Initiative
- Partner Projects
New programs and initiatives for FY23
- Climate Smart Ag and Forestry Initiative
- Assistance for Small Scale Farms and Urban Agriculture
- Impact of Inflation Reduction Act on NRCS funding and related partnership opportunities
- Initiatives to address Water Quality and Quantity Resource Concerns
There should be plenty of street parking available at this time of day and the meters should be free until 8:00. Visitors must enter the Federal Building via the west entrance off Centennial Mall and pass through a metal detector. A photo ID is required. Items like pocketknives and metal coffee mugs that could spill are not allowed. The west entrance will open at 7:00 a.m.
A $2 charge will be collected to help cover costs of refreshments (students are exempt).
