The Selective Science Communications Workshop is back!
Forestry and wildfire narratives often stretch scientific truths, making clear communication essential. After a 2023 webinar and 2024 workshop on science communication, we launched a quarterly practice group—and now, the Selective Science Communications Workshop is back for 2025.
What’s next: This year’s interactive series will help collaborative communicators tackle real challenges and build a statewide science communications toolkit.
Participants will:
- Critically evaluate existing communication and outreach materials, and give/receive meaningful, actionable feedback.
- Practice having difficult conversations.
- Share & discuss real-life stories of successes and failures with other communicators so that we can learn from one another.
- Co-develop a Selective Science Communications Toolkit for communicators across Colorado to use
The series will feature three Co-Learning Workshop sessions (targeted, interactive discussion sessions where we will learn about communication concepts and practice using them in real-world situations), paired with three optional Crafting Sessions (where we will work together with members of the broader Practice Group to develop a Selective Science Communications Toolkit).

To Attend: Please apply for the workshop by 5 p.m. MT on Tuesday, March 11th, 2025.
Applicants will be notified of acceptance by Friday, March 14th at 5 p.m. MT. For each workshop session, you can expect pre-work and a meeting link to be sent ~1 week before each session.
