August 28, 2024, 5:00 PM - 6:15 PM (US Central)
Join us for an evening of fun and celebrating with your fellow conservationists at the virtual SWCS Members-Only Conservation & Cocktail event!
We will kick off the evening with a toast to all of you, the conservation professionals working every day to protect our natural resources. We will then hear from Rachel Owen, SWCS Senior Advisor, on important upcoming policy information with some time for Q&A. Next, we will play some conservation trivia, so dust up on your SWCS and conservation knowledge because the winners will receive a prize. We will end the evening with some time to network and connect with other conservation professionals across the country while sipping your conservation cocktail, the SWCS 79!
All members will receive an email with a registration link. If you have any questions or issues registering, please contact Emma Harper at emma.harper@swcs.org.
SWCS 79
We have put a little conservation twist on a French 75 to bring you the signature cocktail of the evening, the SWCS 79!
Ingredients:
- 1 oz Gin (preferably an herbal or botanical gin for a natural twist)
- Mocktail: Skip
- 1/2 oz Freshly squeezed lemon juice
- 1/2 oz Honey syrup
- 2-3 Fresh basil leaves (adds a subtle, earthy herbal note)
- 2-3 oz Prosecco or Champagne
- Mocktail: Switch out for sparkling water, tonic, or a nonalcoholic sparkling wine
- A sprig of fresh thyme or rosemary (for garnish)
- Ice
Instructions:
- Muddle Basil: In a shaker, gently muddle the fresh basil leaves with the honey syrup to release their natural oils and flavor.
- Mix Ingredients: Add gin, lemon juice, and ice to the shaker.
- Shake: Shake well until the mixture is chilled.
- Strain: Strain the mixture into a chilled champagne flute or coupe glass.
- Top with Bubbles: Slowly top with Prosecco or Champagne.
- Garnish: Garnish with a sprig of fresh thyme or rosemary for an aromatic, earthy touch.
Notes:
- The honey syrup adds a natural sweetness and a slight floral note, which pairs beautifully with the fresh basil and the herbal gin.
- The garnish of thyme or rosemary not only enhances the aroma but also complements the herbal undertones of the cocktail.
- You can also experiment with other herbs like lavender or mint, depending on your preference.
Mix up your cocktail or mocktail, and get ready for a good time!
