With elected officials returning to their districts August through Labor Day, there is an opportunity to showcase the important local conservation work federal programs support.
While this presents a valuable opportunity, reaching out to elected officials can feel intimidating. Understanding how the legislative processes relate to the programs that fund local conservation on the ground can be confusing. Knowing how to host and speak with elected officials and their staff can be unfamiliar.
With all of this in mind, the SWCS Science and Policy Committee has spearheaded the creation of a toolkit for conducting legislative outreach and education.
During this webinar, participants will obtain access to the toolkit and hear real-world examples of how conservation professionals are sharing the value of conservation with the elected officials in their area.
What You’ll Leave With
- An understanding and updates on the status of federal programs that support local conservation.
- Examples of how conservation professionals are reaching and informing elected officials.
- A toolkit to conduct legislative outreach and education.
Cost
- Free for SWCS members
- $15 for nonmembers
Bonus: Need CEU credits? A certificate of attendance will be provided upon request. Email events@swcs.org after the webinar.
