If you are interested in submitting a candidate for the SWCS Northeast Regional Director position, please complete and submit the Candidate Nomination and Petition Form to email@example.com by March 2, 2020. Be sure that the person you are recommending is qualified, aware of the functions of the position, and willing to carry out those functions. Our bylaws state that “Regional Directors shall represent the interests of all members of the Society, with specific responsibilities to the members and chapters within their respective regions as required by the Board.” In addition, the Board of Directors has adopted a policy titled “SWCS Regional and At-Large Director Roles and Responsibilities.” All candidates must agree to comply with the requirements found in this document.
HOW TO MAKE A RECOMMENDATION
SWCS bylaws state that “the Nominations Committee shall accept recommendations from Society members and chapters for nominees” to run for the Board of Directors. The bylaws outline three ways that Society members and chapters may make a recommendation to the Nominations Committee. The Nominations Committee can accept recommendations if:
- The recommendation is adopted by a chapter at a regular meeting, at a special meeting called for such purpose, or by the Executive Committee of the chapter if authorized to do so at a regular chapter meeting;
- The recommendation is adopted by a state council of chapters at a regular meeting, at a special meeting called for such purpose, or by the Executive Committee of the state council of chapters if authorized to do so at a regular state council of chapters meeting; or
- The recommendation is signed by 20 or more voting members of the Society.
Use the provided Candidate Nomination and Petition form above to make your recommendation.
HOW FINAL DECISIONS ARE MADE
The Nominations Committee carefully considers all recommendations received from chapters or members. If the recommendations received do not meet our long-range target for representation, the Committee may seek additional recommendations or personally recruit candidates. The goal is to find at least two and a maximum of three candidates. Therefore, some individuals recommended for consideration may not appear on the final ballot. That is not an indication of those individuals’ qualifications, but rather an indication of the number of good candidates.
If you have questions or if there is anything we can do to support your chapter through this process, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
