The Hugh Hammond Bennett Award is the highest honor bestowed on an individual by the Society. It is given for extraordinary accomplishments in the conservation of soil, water, and related natural resources.

Deadline:

  • Application and supporting documents are due by April 24, 2020. Late submissions will not be accepted.

Nomination Form:

  • The nomination form is to be filled out and submitted electronically. All supporting materials are to be uploaded in the online application.

Criteria:

  • The award may be given to SWCS members or nonmembers.
  • The service and accomplishments of the nominee shall have made major and widely recognized contributions to the conservation of natural resources. These accomplishments shall be consistent with the goals and objectives of SWCS.

Nomination Procedure:

  • Nominations shall be made by completing and submitting the questionnaire.
  • Each nominator may submit no more than one individual for this award.
  • Two letters of support are required for this nomination. Additional letters of support will not be accepted.
  • A nomination narrative is required for this nomination. Nomination narrative should include:
    • The service and accomplishments of the nominee shall have made major and widely recognized contributions to the conservation of natural resources. These accomplishments shall be consistent with the goals and objectives of SWCS.
    • Service to SWCS as a member or nonmember.
    • Professional achievements.
    • Service to other professional organizations.
    • Use this nomination narrative in place of a CV or resume.
  • Supporting materials are to be uploaded in the application.

Selection:

  • The SWCS Awards Committee will evaluate and rank nominations. Recommendations will be presented to the SWCS Board of Directors for final approval. The award shall be given to no more than one individual annually.
