How to Enter
The mission of the Soil and Water Conservation Society (SWCS) is to foster the science and art of natural resource conservation. For our 2018 photo contest, we invite submissions that showcase the value and beauty of our natural resources and inspire viewers to act as responsible stewards of the land. We want to see the places that matter most to you – working lands, refuges and preservation areas, sites in need of restoration, urban landscapes, and areas benefiting from or suffering under changes in use or management. Send us any photo that helps illustrate the importance of identifying and creating pathways to sustainability.
Submit high quality (300 dpi or greater), electronic format jpeg or tiff files to email@example.com. You may enter up to three photographs. No printed or mailed photos will be accepted.
Entry emails should include:
- Photographer name and email address
- Location where photo was taken (city, state/province, country)
- Short description (1-3 sentences)
Previously published photographs may be accepted as long as you have retained the rights to allow us to use the photo. If people appear in the image, you are responsible for obtaining and providing necessary releases from the individuals in the photo, if requested.
All entries will become the property of SWCS, and SWCS reserves the non-exclusive right to use the photographs in publications or promotional materials to support our conservation efforts. You will retain photographer rights and use to the photos. Thank you for your help in protecting our natural resources.
A panel will judge photos based on content, depiction of conservation theme, and visual composition. The top 12 photos selected by judges will be displayed at the 73rd SWCS International Annual Conference, July 29–August 1, 2018, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and will compete for a People’s Choice Award. An additional award will be given to the photo that the judging panel identifies as the best illustration of the 2018 Annual Conference theme, Culture, Climate, and Conservation. Read more on the Annual Conference theme at www.swcs.org/18AC.
