June 11, 2018 - June 12, 2018

Location:
Des Moines, Iowa

The annual 4R Summit, sponsored by The Fertilizer Institute, will be held in Des Moines, Iowa on June 11-12 to share effective nutrient stewardship tenets and practices. Attendees will hear from speakers about advances and tools for in-field implementation of the 4R principles, linkages between 4R and on-farm conservation, agribusiness involvement, government- and non-governmental organization-supported initiatives, and details on projects funded through the 4R Research Fund. The agenda will feature concurrent breakout sessions, offering participants a choice of speakers and topics.

The Iowa location will give attendees the opportunity to hear about efforts in the state from the Iowa Department of Agriculture, Agribusiness Association of Iowa, Iowa Corn Growers, among others. Attendees will also get to experience the beautiful World Food Prize Hall of Laureates during a special evening reception.

This multi-stakeholder effort champions stewardship and sustainability using "4R" Best Management Practices: applying the right fertilizer source at the right rate at the right time and in the right place. These science-based practices deploy the right types of fertilizers more efficiently, at precisely the most effective rate, time, and place. Many research efforts are underway to identify sustainability and profitability impacts of 4R practices, and the Summit provided an opportunity to hear directly from the experts on the outcomes of their work.
