Conservation Leadership
Conservation Leadership Workshop Saturday, July 26 – 10:00 a.m. The purpose of this year’s Conservation Leadership Workshop is to provide conservation professionals hands on experience and tools useful in multi-party negotiations. Participants will interact with each other in the context of a scenario based on an environmentally based conflict. The agenda for the workshop will include:
- A one hour presentation on the topic of climate change and how it impacts ecosystems and management strategies. Speaker: Gregg Garfin, Director of Outreach, ISPE - Institute for the Study of Planet Earth, University of Arizona
- One hour on new SWCS initiatives in professional development, corporate membership, and individual membership data and information. Speakers: Dewayne Johnson, Sue Ann Lynes and Lindey Krug, SWCS Headquarters
- A four-hour introduction to the practice of planning for and negotiating solutions to multi-party environmental conflicts. Training conducted by the U.S. Institute for Environmental Conflict Resolution. www.ecr.gov
- Closing comments by Peggie James, SWCS President.
Workshop Fee: $45 ($55 late). Lunch is on your own and is not included in the workshop registration fee.
